Postdoc in Microbial Physiology

The nitrification group headed by Michael Wagner, Holger Daims, and Petra Pjevac is looking for a post-doctoral fellow with a strong background in microbial physiology. The successful candidate will be mainly involved in research on the ecophysiology, metabolic versatility, and microbe-microbe interactions of nitrifying microorganisms: comammox bacteria, and canonical ammonia- and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and archaea. Additional research topics can include microorganisms that are related to known nitrifiers but have other lifestyles.

What we expect:

  • Excellent knowledge of microbial physiology and physiological methods
  • Motivation to work with elusive but fascinating microorganisms
  • Scientific curiosity
  • Open-minded personality and team spirit
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills
