Holger Daims and Michael Wagner are Highly Cited Researchers 2021

News

DOME members Holger Daims and Michael Wagner are among the most cited researchers in the world. Alongside their CMESS colleagues Thomas Rattei (CUBE) and Andreas Richter (TER) they have been named on the annual Highly Cited Researchers 2021 list from Clarivate.

The annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the “Web of Science” citation index.

Accordingly, the four CMESS researchers are among the one percent of the world's most cited researchers in their fields of research. In fact, three of them did not make it onto the list for the first time. Michael Wagner has been on the list continuously since 2014. The number of citations is an indicator of the extraordinary impact these scientists have on the research community. Both research group leaders from DOME are among the most cited researchers in the category Microbiology. In total, eleven scholars from the University of Vienna belong to this most-cited group of researchers. Thereby, CMESS is the institution of the University of Vienna with the most highly cited researchers.
